There’s No Time!
Read 2 Timothy 2:2
As Christians, we are called not only to work for God, but to work with God. What does that mean, you might ask.
It means we are not slaves, we are helpers. 2 Timothy 2:2 tells us to commit to faithful men so that they might also help us on our mission.
Other scripture from the Bible reminds us that we are “God’s fellow workers” (1 Corinthians 3:9), which means that the calling on our lives is not just about obedience, but about partnership. We are not slaves under a harsh master—we are helpers, entrusted with carrying out His Kingdom work here on earth.
So, how can we do better as helpers in spreading God’s Word with the world?
One clear way is to watch who we pour ourselves onto. A seed thrown on concrete will not grow anything, but it isn’t because it’s a bad seed—it’s because the ground wasn’t prepared to receive such a thing. Just the same, if we pour into people who aren’t ready to get serious about God and only have selfish motives (being looked at in a certain way, praised, etc.), we are wasting our time, God’s time, and our energy could be better spent elsewhere.
Ensure, before you give counsel, that the person you’re talking to has experienced conviction. If God is not already working in them, then you need to move on. Until God has been welcomed into their hearts, and until He works his magic, no amount of effort you pour into them will change them. It is better to move on and, hopefully when the time is right, someone else can pour into them. It may not be the right time for them, and you don’t want to waste precious time on someone who isn’t ready or prepared to receive what you’re sharing when others are waiting to hear exactly what you have to share.
Your time is God’s time—spend it wisely! Do not be led astray by pointless missions; there’s no time!
Pray regularly for God to help you see who you can help, and who simply isn’t ready. Ask for Him to put someone in your path, and ask for Him to keep you on track so you spend your time here on earth serving Him more, and yourself less.
