The Golden Rule
Read Matthew 22:37.
The Golden Rule — “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you” — is such a simple statement, yet it carries deep meaning and powerful implications! Jesus’ words remind us that love, kindness, and respect are not meant to be conditional or selective, though it seems they are these days.
No… these are standards we are called to uphold in every interaction, whether someone “deserves” it or not, because even we do not deserve it. The emphasis Jesus places on giving rather than receiving challenges our natural instincts. It pushes us toward selflessness, sympathy, and grace — qualities that reflect God’s heart rather than our human nature.
In my personal life, this verse reminds me to pause before reacting, especially in moments of frustration or conflict. I’ve been tested often in recent months, but this verse encourages me to extend grace to others the same way I hope to receive it: with gentleness and forgiveness.
Matthew 7:12 (NIV):
So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.
